Batibou Beach

Dominica, Calibishie

Batibou Beach is celebrated as one of the most stunning beaches in the world, especially on the small island of Dominica.

However, the beach is just one aspect of the “Batibou Experience.” The beach is located on Hampstead Estate, which was once a lime plantation and is now a family-owned property.

Visitors can can either trek or drive down the brief rocky path to the beach, pay the attendant, and settle in at the Batibou Beach Bar & Grille, a simple wooden hut that fits perfectly with the natural surroundings. Be sure to order a coconut punch—this drink is a must-have at Batibou—and try the mango-whiskey snapper stuffed with fresh crabmeat and served with local chimichurri. For dessert, enjoy the Batibou Road Greek Frozen Yogurt, a delightful mix of bananas, local cacao, hints of ginger and coffee, and whole roasted cashews.

Note: the $5 entrance fee contributes to the upkeep of the beach. You'll find attendants at the end of the only road leading to the shore. Don’t forget to bring a towel, water, cash, and any other essentials you might need. Restrooms and showers are conveniently located behind the bar.
